Back from holiday

The Blog’s been a bit quiet for a while since I’ve been having a well deserved break in Spain enjoying the mighty La Tomatina Festival where 30,000 people from around the world came together to have a Giant tomato fight and then once I recovered spent a while in Valencia and Barcelona enjoying the food, sunshine, drink and some magnificant Architecture.

Here’s some Highlights

La Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciencies Valencia

holiday

or City of Arts & Sciences is an ensemble of five areas in the dry river bed of the now diverted River Turia in Valencia

Designed by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and started in July 1996, it is an impressive example of modern spanish architecture.

Check out the 5 Areas if you ever get a chance, and have a walk down the dry river bed that runs through the city which is covered in gardens, fountains and greens. Its a stange experience to be walking under bridges that used to once cross a river.

El Palau de les Arts — Opera house and performing arts centre
L’Hemisfèric — Imax Cinema, Planetarium and Laserium
L’Umbracle — Walkway / Garden
El Museu de les Ciències — Science museum
L’Oceanogràfic — Open-air oceanographic park
